Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about color contrast, WCAG 2.2, APCA, and building accessible palettes.

What contrast ratio does WCAG AA require?

WCAG 2.2 AA requires a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and many user interface components.

What is the difference between WCAG contrast and APCA?

WCAG 2.x uses a relative-luminance ratio. APCA uses a perceptual contrast model and considers polarity, so it can be a useful additional check for modern interface design.

Does ContrastFixer send my colors to a server?

No. The contrast calculations and palette audit run locally in your browser.

Can I use the tool for a full color palette?

Yes. Open Palette Audit, paste one named hex color per line, and build a matrix to identify weak foreground and background combinations.

Does passing a contrast ratio make a design fully accessible?

No. Color contrast is important, but accessible products also need clear labels, keyboard support, readable type, focus states, semantic HTML, and more.

Ready to check your colors?

Run a fast local contrast check or audit an entire palette.
